Languages of Love PT2: Summer Edition

It was a risk for StrawberryJamz! Radio to hold an event the weekend of Chicago's most praised, Lollapalooza but we did and the night was a successful one.  This past weekend, StrawberryJamz! Radio hosted Languages of Love: Summer Edition and compared to our first show held in late February, we have to say things just keep getting better.

We would like to thank all the artists for participating in this event and we would like to encourage them to continue to strive and know that we support them.  Our audience, we love turning up with you guys, thank you so much for coming out.  Make sure everyone tunes in with us, (SharmonJarmon and JusJaz) every Thursday from 9p-12a on Windycityunderground.com.

He calls himself The Architect and one week before Languages of Love: Summer Edition, we had him on our show.  This man has a heart of gold and even better his words move you.  This past weekend The Architect was a totally different man on stage. In the audience, a kind-heart who laughs at his own jokes but transformed into a confident man who doesn't know what he wants just knows what he's looking for.  He's a poet who kept everyone in-tune. If you missed this man, you missed out.

This guy is one hell of a smooth talker and you can easily tell his "game" is on point.  Ross Augusta's music is typical love music but I must say you can't help but to agree and hang on every word this man has to say.  He's not afraid to get emotional in his music and his crowd communication gets the whole room involved.  I haven't even mentioned how this man's vibrato intertwined so well with his falsetto.  When you're a girl getting swooned by an R&B singer, that's all you need and Augusta gave it to all of them at Languages of Love.

Can you say alter-ego? This man is C. Dot and anyone who met him before he performed at Languages of Love may have never thought this man can sang.  He gave us something smooth but he's from around the way because no matter how grown and sexy one can be, we all like to get a little ratchet at times, and that's what he gave us.  Quiet and seemingly shy, C. Dot got on stage with slight movement.  I mean if you've ever seen Sade perform you'll understand what this means.  His energy was live and we thank him.

Now this girl was simply amazing. Daryn Alexus is slowly making making her way up the industry scale..  Talk about an artist who literally lets their talent do all the work.  Her entire ora is nothing but humble. She covered some very much needed Lauryn Hill and gave us an original piece produced by her partner in crime, and Chicago producer, Dee Lilly.  This girl can "sang". She was a breath of fresh air for this event and her voice stole the entire show.

Now if Maxwell has a son that he's not telling the world about, then Justin Ruff doesn't need daddy to make it.  I believe that I can speak on behalf of the entire Spoken Word Lounge when I say we were all blown away.  I mean I can't even explain the feeling but a young man who can skat like he wasn't born yesterday but in the late '20s.  He knew what he was doing to the crowd when he got on stage.

Please don't let these smiles fool you.  Ashley and Wesley of spoken word duo, NOMMO, were everything but nice.  It's hard to explain spoken word but let me just say they didn't use the microphone or the stage and if you ever, for a slight second thought that you've ever made love to anyone on this earth, NOMMO told you no no.  I never felt like the F-- word was ever really appropriate, or need I say, just the right term for my love life, NOMMO broke everyone's dream with the meanest fantasy.  I mean not to mention the witty wordplay and their enthusiasm but they both had audience members hanging on to every word they said.  I mean descriptive language that you just couldn't ignore. Two beautiful souls rapped in one act, wrapped up in one body-chilling act. The connection between the two... there was no connection, there was just perfect harmony between two people that were able to move the room with their deep words and striking energy, two people who moved the room with their golden minds.  StrawberryJamz! Radio thanks you both.

So every light-skinned man should be thanking James Benton because he put y'll back on the map.  He's a smooth guy but damn, the boy can sang! He brought Languages of Love something live.  He sang with the Chicago band known as Future, and combined with the ambiance at the Spoken Word Lounge, his performance was epic; stadium status type of shit.

Also, a special thanks to DJ Epidemic for turning up with us and keeping the crowd live with his mixes.

See you at the next Languages of Love! Did somebody say Sweeties Day?
