Ever since Nicki Minaj came to the game, music lovers have been waiting for another great female MC that can compete toe-to-toe with some of the great female MCs like MC Lyte, Queen Latifa, Lil Kim, Missy Elliot, and Eve just to name a few.
Well the DMV bred, but Chicago living femcee Lucci Vee is definitely next up to bat to take the female crown and she's not even signed yet. Her new mixtape Guard Ya Grill is exactly how it sounds. She may look sweet but her music is hard core.
Hosted by female DJ Gemini Jones, Guard Ya Grill is a mixture of cover raps with a few original tracks from the female original known as Sneaker Vixen. She takes beats like Roman's Revenge, BMF, Bill Gates, and Look at Me Now and completely makes them her own.
I give this mixtape 4 out of 5 strawberries for original flow, dope female swag, and great packaging. The only thing missing is more original music. We see how hard you can go on industry tracks and your originals stand just as tall. Now, let's just hear more. That's what the fans want.
